Fundraising Tip: Meet With a Donor
While you are so busy, don’t forget to do this.
I pay attention to what other nonprofit fundraising professionals are doing.
That amazing conference.
Another webinar where so much was learned.
Reading another article about AI.
And all of those meetings.
Meanwhile, I always think when was the last time they met with a donor?
Believe me, I know how busy you are. I know what’s happening in the world and your world. I know many of our missions have huge targets on our backs.
And I know that not all nonprofit leadership allows us to do what we must to succeed.
Like taking a lot of time to build relationships with donors.
I calendar time with donors. Some of the times are coffees or lunches. Others know I’ll be near them and can I have a few minutes to swing by?
Last week I was able to spend time with a couple that gives to us monthly. Big fans of our mission. We spent only about ten minutes together but the time was perfect. They wanted to make sure I knew, and that the organization knew, how important we are to them. They are super grateful for the work we do and the impact we have.
They appreciated my time and the fact that I made an effort to see them.
The relationship between them and the organization grew.
As it always does when you spend time with your donors.
