Fundraising tip – Have you checked out Medium?

I was back home in Denver last summer on a walk with one of my best friends. We were talking about my Altrui blog and he said “I think you should be writing on Medium”.

Medium?

I had no idea I was missing out on what I believe to be one of the best platforms on social media for writing, exchanging of ideas, and learning.

It’s also perfect for those in nonprofit fundraising.

I became a member. I think it was $50.00 for a year.

Then I started the process of publishing articles there.

Medium has a partner program where you can make money off of your articles. For some it can be a lot, for me, it’s minimal for now.

I’m not there to make money. I’m there to share ideas, and to write about fundraising, nonprofits, and relationship building.

Whatever expectations I had in joining Medium and in writing on Medium have been exceeded beyond what I could have imagined. I have been able to get in front of communities that I was not in front of before, and I have been able to learn from so many writers on Medium.

More people know about Altrui and my work, and slowly I am seeing more people learn about me on Medium and then click over to my Altrui website.

The best thing I have gotten out of Medium is the wide-array of writers and article there. Every day I read about something that interests me, whether I knew it would or not when starting to read it.

For nonprofits and nonprofit fundraisers, Medium can bring you and your mission to a whole other world. It can introduce you to countless others, while allowing you to meet people and learn of organizations you had not previously known.
