Agnes Passed Away
Once in a while on this nonprofit fundraising blog, I choose to share something personal. This one is deeply personal, and I felt it was such a big deal for me that I wanted to share with all of you.
It’s about our family member and beautiful dog, Agnes.
It didn’t matter that she was 17, almost 18. Or that she was deaf and blind. Or that she had dementia. Or that she had cancer.
I wanted several more years with her.
Seven weeks ago, Agnes passed away, after my husband and I decided that this was the point of no return, that we did not want her to have to go through another seizure and the consequences of that.
If you know, you know. It’s an awful decision. It rips you apart. Holding your precious loved one while thanking them for everything, well, it destroys you. At least for a while.
You want more time.
I work from home, which seems worse after her loss. I think I hear her, then I remember. I want to hear her. The grief is still strong, as is missing her presence.
I wish I could add something about fundraising here, but I can’t think of anything, other than making sure you spend time with those you love, no matter how busy work is.
Make the time.

So sorry to hear about Agnes. We adopt senior dogs so it’s a loss we are sadly familiar with but it’s devastating every single time.
