Fundraising Tip: Be Comfortable With the Ask
Don’t let fear get in your way.
Hi!
It’s that time of the year in our world of nonprofit fundraising; yearend giving.
By now, your yearend campaign may be in full force, or may be just starting. For some, it could be calendared for the first week of December. Asking donors to support our work this time of year is vital to our overall fundraising for the year. Some ask through direct mail, text-to-give, and e-appeals, and yet we still have to do that one thing that may make you nervous.
Asking a donor, one-on-one, to make a donation to your organization.
This is one of my favorite parts of being in fundraising. I get the chance to meet with someone who cares about our mission and those we serve, and sees donating to us as a way they can make the world a better place.
I prefer a face-to-face ask but these days a phone call is preferred by many donors. The way it happens is best when it’s the way the donor prefers. It could even be by text!
This a great way to not only build your relationship with your donor, but support your fundraising efforts and the work your nonprofit does.
